Transparency International Ireland wrote to Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney TD asking for his support in raising a proposal signed by 96 NGOs concerning the political declaration of the UN General Assembly Special Session (UNGASS) against corruption at the highest levels of negotiation at the United Nations.
In the letter, the signatories call on UN Member States to establish an intergovernmental expert working group to prepare concrete, technical proposals for supplementary frameworks and mechanisms to address gaps in the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.
