Transparency International (TI) Ireland and its partner charity the Transparency Legal Advice Centre (TLAC) operate Ireland’s only free helpline and independent law centre for whistleblowers and witnesses of corruption. Every two years, it publishes data and analysis based on its work with whistleblowers and how the law protecting them is working in practice. The Speak Up Report 2019 will present data collected from 1,400 whistleblowers and Speak Up Helpline clients that had sought advice and support from TI Ireland and TLAC for the period from 2011 to the end of 2019, and report on significant developments since then.
TI Ireland will mark the launch of the Speak Up Report’s main findings, International Anti-Corruption Day, and the recent publication of the Hamilton Report on economic crime and corruption with a public webinar and panel discussion on Wednesday 9 December at 10am. The webinar will allow for discussion on key trends, expert observations, and recommendations aimed at stopping corruption and protecting those that report, challenge or expose wrongdoing.
The panel will include Associate Professor Rob Gillanders of DCU Anti-Corruption Research Centre, Judy O’Loan, Managing Solicitor of TLAC and John Devitt, Chief Executive of TI Ireland. To register for the event click here.
