TI Ireland’s Head of Policy and Research, Alexander Chance, has delivered a keynote address to the Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA) entitled ‘Illicit Finance: Implications for National Security and the Need for a New Strategic Response’. The address highlighted key risks to national security posed by illicit finance in both the global and Irish contexts, as well as outlining strengths and weaknesses in the various responses to this threat at international and domestic level. Warning that Ireland risks being left behind as other countries ‘target harden’ their financial systems against illicit finance, the address concluded by offering practical recommendations for an overhauled strategic response. Video and audio/podcast recordings of the address are available via the IIEA’s website here.
