2024: Submission on the Strategy to Combat Economic Crime and Corruption

In November 2024, TI Ireland made a submission to the Department of Justice Consultation on Developing a National Strategy to Combat Economic Crime and Corruption. The development of a multi-annual strategy and action plan was one of the key recommendations of the Hamilton Review of ‘Structures and strategies to prevent, investigate and penalise economic crime and corruption’ and its subsequent implementation plan. TI Ireland’s submission provided recommendations around four broad themes: (i) threat and risk assessment; (ii) partnerships, cooperation and information-sharing; (iii) resources and tools; and (iv) communications and awareness. It also offered reflections on several cross-cutting issues that require consideration throughout the strategy.
