Note for UK applicants
In Ireland, the field of psychotherapy is currently pre-state regulation. State regulation will come into effect in the coming years and will be administered by CORU (www.coru.ie). Currently, Counsellors, Psychologists and Psychotherapists are self-regulating professions. As such, UK applicants ideally need to be listed with ICP, IACP or PSI.
- ICP: There is a reciprocal arrangement for the purpose of facilitating cross border registration for ICP and UKCP members.
- IACP: UK applicants can also apply for IACP Accreditation through BACP Recognition of Accreditation Scheme.
- PSI: To qualify for PSI Chartership you must first be a Graduate Member of the PSI. Following a memorandum of cooperation with the BPS, those who have completed a BPS accredited undergraduate or conversion degree and achieved a 2:2 honours or above are eligible for PSI Graduate Membership. Further information on Chartered Membership is available here.
