Research Associateship

We welcome suitably qualified and experienced researchers to join TI Ireland as Research Associates in support of our research programmes.

Research Associates will be responsible for undertaking or leading research and learning on topics related to TI Ireland’s field of work. This work may be paid, voluntary, or in pursuit of formal academic qualifications, however each project will generally be self-financing with the Research Associate usually jointly responsible for raising income for that project.  TI Ireland will
offer whatever support, financial or otherwise, to Research Associates where resources allow.

Research Associates may also be members or work in support of initiatives led by Expert Groups or Executive Committees.

The following are important elements of these volunteering opportunities:

  • Research Associates can be appointed by the Chief Executive for a period of one year with no limits on the number of terms that an Associate serves.
  • Each Associate will be asked to present a work-plan of research for that year within three months of appointment.
  • Individual terms of reference will be agreed with the Associate before formal appointment.
  • Please note that an expression of interest or presentation of a work-plan does not commit TI Ireland or Transparency International to support or commission a body of work.
  • Serving as a volunteer or Research Associate does not disqualify an individual from applying for future contract work or permanent employment with TI Ireland.
  • Neither is it a prerequisite to have served as a volunteer or Research Associate to secure paid employment with TI Ireland.
  • Board members of TI Ireland may not be remunerated for any work by TI Ireland other than out-of-pocket expenses.
