Transparency International Ireland is looking for volunteer researchers to help with an update of its National Integrity Systems (2009) study (NIS). The study assessed 14 key institutions ('pillars' such as the legislature, executive, the judiciary, the business sector etc.) in terms of their internal transparency, accountability and integrity mechanisms, as well as their role in promoting the overall anti-corruption system in the country.
The volunteers will help the Advocacy and Research Manager (ARM) to identify key legal and/or institutional developments in each of the 14 pillars since 2009. The work will be carried out on a pillar by pillar basis. It will entail reading the relevant pillar in the 2009 study, identifying significant developments, conducting initial desk research into these developments and collating information.
Before undertaking the research, prospective volunteers would be fully briefed and shown key research resources. The kinds of developments which would be relevant could include new bills or laws, pledges in the programme for government and survey findings both nationally and internationally. This Research Assistant volunteer role is now open for prospective candidates and we are looking to create a team of research volunteers over September and October of 2011.
Volunteers would ideally have a background in political science, law, public administration or another social science discipline.
If you are interested in supporting our work in this area, please get in touch with Advocacy and Research Manager, Nuala Haughey at support@transparency.ie, with your relevant profile background (CV) and interest information. See here for more information on what you information you should provide in your email.
